Believe it or not, I love doing project management. What is project management? Per the Project Management Institute “Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements.¹ ” Sound exciting! Right? I bet you are thinking I am crazy. Well, maybe I am a happy crazy person.

I love project management because I like to organize chaos, bring a process to a goal which has no direction, and help people accomplish their goals. In short, I ensure that everyone on the team has the resources, tools, information, and a clear definition of the tasks they need to accomplish within a given time frame. This takes a great dedication communicating with all types of people.

Working with many different types of people keeps me energized and fine tunes my ability to work with different personalities. Communication skills are imperative to bring cohesiveness to the full team – client and vendor alike. Juggling personalities is not easy but is very rewarding in my eyes.

I can say that I am very lucky to have a job where I can have fun each and every day as I practice the art of project management. I thank everyone around me as they keep me energized and fulfilled. Until next time, have a great week.
