The Journey of Learning Continues…
Since March I have been dabbling in mixed media and learning new techniques each time I attempt to create a piece. It is interesting to watch the progression in my art journal. But, I am dying to go back and correct some of my earlier attempts. Heck, I decided to leave them alone and track my progression. In my earlier post, I talked about when it is likely you have gone too far. Since then, I have learned that less is sometimes better.
I am learning that I need to relax and enjoy the creative process. It is not about the finished product but about the freedom of being creative. One of my pieces is titled, Creativity Takes Courage. I truly believe it! You need to be able to jump in and try things out until you see a vision. Sometimes, the vision doesn’t come until the very end. So, you need to be courageous and trust in the process.
My current task is to learn the art of a flat page containing mixed media. This means to keep the page free of dimension which will cause the page to be thick with embellishments. I find this hard because it requires more creativity to not depend on embellishments. Here is my most recent flat mixed medium piece. I used stamps, water color pencils, water based colored spray, and paint.
